I am thankful for babies!!

We surely have a lot to be thankful for... including this beauty!

We found out last Saturday that we are having another little girl. We are thankful that she is healthy, has all toes and fingers and a strong beating heart. Layla is thankful to have a little sister, it has been her wish all along. They will be such great friends. There is nothing like a sisterly bond, a best friend for life.

I am thankful for my wonderful husband, and little Layla. They are the best family I could ever hope for. I am thankful for Grandma's and Grandpa's, aunties and uncles and lots of fun cousins.

I am thankful for naps... snowy Sundays... and being potty trained.

 I am thankful for holidays, Christmas decorations and stinky pugs.

I am thankful I still have 5 more months to spoil Layla as an only child, and I am thankful that I only have 5 more months to feel like a walking zombie with a migraine :).

Halloween

Layla dressed up as Dora the explorer... if you can't tell she is a bit obsessed with her :). She looked adorable. We took her trick or treating with her cousins. It rained all over us, but the kids could care less.

Who's afraid of the ghost of John?

That is Layla's favorite Halloween song... have you ever heard it? It is pretty funny, but most of the time she tells me, "No, momma we don't like that one!" (because it is too "scary") She loves singing songs and telling stories... One day she was sitting in her room reading a book and I heard her say "Once a time there was a princess" It was the most adorable thing ever! ( My inner teacher was very proud that she could already identify the beginning of a story!!) Now when you ask her to tell you a story she says, "Once a time, there was an owl, and it said who, who and then it ate a mouse!" I have the cutest pumpkin costume for Layla for Halloween, I am very excited about it... every time someone asks her what she is going to be, she tells them,"Dora". I have been ignoring it and was still planning on the pumpkin, because this will probably be the last year when I get to pick her costume. The other night she said she was going to be Dora and I said no, your going to be a pumpkin, and Jayson said, "you better get her a Dora costume". So, I guess I have been out voted. I bought a Dora costume the next day! Jayson is a major sucker for his little girl.

We went out to the pumpkin patch to get a pumpkin and Layla had a blast with her friend Avarie. I love Fall!!!

new cousin

Jayson's sister had her baby on September 21st. His name is Walker and he is as cute as a bug. We are excited to have him in our family. When we say our prayers at night Layla won't let me forget "baby Walker". We were able to make it down to St. George a few weekends ago to see the new baby and Jayson's Mom and Grandma. It was a fun trip.

Layla has been growing quickly lately, she is potty trained and busy as a bee. I have been very busy getting back into the swing of things at work. Jayson of course has been super busy at work as usual. The pugs are chillin like usual :).

Jayson's Triathlon

A few weeks ago, Jayson completed his first sprint triathlon. He trained like a crazy man for a few months. Right about the time I was sick and tired of him working out every waking hour of the day, he was ready to do the darn thing. He was very nervous... mainly, because it was a new experience, there was a bike and a stagnant lake involved, and my heck... IT WAS GOING TO BE HARD. I tried to encourage him, but then I just ended up staying away from him for a few days while he mentally prepared :).
He got everything ready the night before, we took his bike for a short ride around the neighborhood to make sure everything was fine. He wakes up the next day in the wee hours of the morning, gets ready to leave and his bike's front tire looks like someone snuck into our garage and slashed it with a knife. (That's how flat it was :) Luckily, I was sleeping because his friend Spencer was helping him at the first transition. I did not want to be a part of this, I bet he was sooooo mad. He got to Spencer's house, trying to figure out how to fix the problem... there was no solution, all the stores were closed, yada, yada. He ended up riding Spencer's ten speed, in which only 3 of the gears actually work. We can laugh about it now, but he was very upset.
He did amazing, he swam perfectly, biked awesome (even though he followed some guy a mile off track and had to bike back) and did the run with ease.
We are so proud of him. He is truly an inspiration to our family. Now if I could get some of his motivation we would be doing well :).

What's new

I have always wondered if Layla would be a singer like her mommy... it has been confirmed. She has such a beautiful little voice and she loves singing. Every night before we go to bed we sing songs and she shocks me everyday with how many songs she knows.

She has been talking non stop since the day she turned 2. It went from 2 word sentences to conversations. Some days I actually wish I could turn her on mute :) She can count to 15 and she is potty trained with a few accidents here and there... Man, she needs to slow down, or we need to have another one to fill my baby void.

We have been keeping ourselves very busy, I am dreading August 23rd (the day school starts) but I guess it would be good for me to wake up before 9:00 sometimes.

Jayson has been training very hard for his triathilon this weekend... wish him luck. (He is going to do great!) We are so proud of him! Will post pics of it soon.

Jayson's mom had open heart surgery a few weeks ago... it was a pretty scary time, but luckily she is pulling through. We love her very much and we are glad she is going to start feeling better.
