First Birthday Party!

Year 2

Happy Birthday to you, happy birthday dear Layla Mae, happy birthday to you.

You have now entered the terrible twos. You only remind me of it a couple times a day. When I have to walk away before I spank ya!
Overall, (despite a few meltdowns) you are the most precious angel I have ever met. You keep me smiling everyday! I am sad you are not a baby anymore, but... Me and your daddy are having the best time watching you grow.

Last night, when we were laying down to go to sleep... I sang you all your favorite songs. I asked you how old you were today and out of no where you said "two". After I was done singing, you gave me an encore of "twinkle, twinkle" all by yourself. I was so impressed that you knew every word.

You are always tricking me about how smart you are... You will never tell me what the correct color is when I ask, only when it is your idea. You can count to 13 all by yourself and in spanish up to cinco! (Thanks Dora). I love you and I know you will only get smarter every day! The only way I can get you to eat is by asking you how a baby elephant eats, and then you will show me... I guess what ever works for your skinny butt. Oh and you like to eat like a pig (like Ralphy on A Christmas Story). You do too many cute things to mention, so I guess that is enough for today!

We had a very fun birthday party for you. I made you a back pack cake and Dora cupcakes... your favorite. When you saw back pack in the fridge you said " Mommy, Backpack is cold!"I laughed for a few minutes :).

 

 You had a great time with your family and friends, eating, opening presents, and swimming. 

4th of July

I am trying to catch up on posts because somehow I got behind. I guess it must be due to my busy summer schedule ;)
We kept ourselves very busy with Carnivals, bike rides, rodeos, hikes and bbq's! It was a great weekend with great company.

1 month down (tear)

 

I cannot believe June is gone. It went too fast. Layla and I have been having a blast. Sleeping in... relaxing, swimming, reading, adventuring :). I got a seat for her on my bike and it is so awesome. We go explore the neighborhood.

She is officially in her terrible twos. She is so sassy right now. If I tell her to do something she looks at me and says (loudly) "OKAY, mom."

We are able to have conversations and I am able to get my way through reasoning. Every time we get in the car she asks, "grandma's house?", I say no... she says, "farmers market?", I say no, she says, "get daddy?" and it goes on and on.

We are working on potty training. Just when I think she has it, she starts a potty strike. I figure, whatever, I am sure she isn't going to pee in diapers forever, right?
